The Process of Making Split White Oak Baskets Workshop with Geraldine Robertson

Spend a week immersed in tradition with Washington artist Geraldine Robertson, who will guide a group through the process of making split white oak baskets. Participants will start by gathering materials in the woods, then learn to split the tree, and then will learn the steps to construct the basket to completion. Funded with support from the Louisiana Folklore Society, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Louisiana Division of the Arts, and the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, this workshop is being offered for free.
