Iridescence Juried Exhibition

August 10, 2021

For the first time in multiple decades, LASM is inviting visual artists from all over the world to submit original works for a juried exhibition, with the theme “Iridescence”. Bradley Sumrall, guest curator from the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, is partnering with LASM to bring the exhibition to the museum, and curated the works that will be displayed from over 300 works of art. “Iridescence is found throughout the natural world, on butterfly wings, fish scales, bird features, and also in man-made materials such as paint, fabric, and plastic,” said LASM curator Lexi Adams. “A captivating sight, iridescence is still being studied by scientists today who seek to further understand the interaction between light, movement, and microscopic structures that is responsible for iridescence.” Artists are invited to create works that incorporate iridescent materials, and submit them for display and judging as part of the exhibition. lasm.org.
