Emmett Till: An Opera in 3 Acts

The tragic story of one of America’s most notorious and brutal lynchings is being explored from new angles in Southern University composter Charles Lloyd, Jr.’s new opera Emmett Till, performed by the University’s Opera Southern. In telling the story of the boy whose hateful murder shook the Civil Rights Movement, Lloyd draws in the sorrowful notes of Black Mississippi Delta spirituals and gospel.
