Art Guild of Louisiana Summer Classes

July 8, 2021

The Art Guild of Louisiana is offering a series of workshops this summer to keep participants’ creativity going strong. Whether you’re looking to enhance your drawing skills or become more mindful, this wide variety of classes offers something for everyone.

July, 8, 15, 22, and 29: Intermediate Drawing–for those already possessing basic drawing skills, up the ante with the help of local artist Larry Downs while learning more advanced design elements and principles, resulting in a still life drawing. 4 pm–7 pm. $75 for Art Guild of Louisiana members, $90 for non-members.

July 9–11: Tangled Gems–Zentangle–Certified Zentangle instructor Kathy Redmond will lead participants in an aesthetically-pleasing mindfulness exercise, using repetitive patterns that result in complex and beautiful drawings. According to Redmond, “If you can hold a pen and write your name, you can do Zentangle.” 1 pm–4 pm. $75 for Art Guild of Louisiana members, $90 for non-members.

July 23–25: Traditional Compass Rose meets Zentangle–Certified Zentangle instructor Kathy Redmond will lead participants in creating “faux” eco-dyed paper on which to place their unique compass rose. Lettering, quotes, and other fun personal touches may be added as well. 1 pm–4 pm. $75 for Art Guild of Louisiana members, $90 for non-members.

July 31: Scrap Paper Houses–Collage–Transform all that junk mail, old magazines or family memorabilia (old letters, report cards, etc.) into one-of-a-kind gifts and cards via a simple collage technique. This class is for adults, but a seven–eighteen year old child may accompany them. Some supplies will be provided, but for a list of other needed items, check the website: artguildlouisiana.org. 10 am–3 pm. $40 for Art Guild member, $60 for Art Guild member and Child; $50 for non-members, $70 for non-member and Child.
